 Our Mission

The European HIV/AIDS Funders Group (EFG) is a knowledge-based network dedicated to strengthening European philanthropy in the field of HIV/AIDS. The group aims to mobilise European philanthropic leadership and resources to address the global HIV/AIDS pandemic and its health, social and economic consequences. In doing so, it also seeks to promote an enabling environment for strategic and independent giving in this field as well as fields closely connected to HIV/AIDS such as human rights, global health and global development.

EFG strives to engage new participants among foundations already active in the field of HIV/AIDS or considering such involvement. By convening at least one annual executive level HIV/AIDS policy meeting with representatives of foundations, public donors and policy organisations, EFG encourages networking and collaboration between multisectoral funders.

European HIV/AIDS Funders Group aims to:

    • Foster networking as well as information and best practice exchange;
    • Build better communication and coordination among funders who are active or potentially active in the field of HIV/AIDS;
    • Enhance donors' knowledge base and grantmaking capacity;
    • Facilitate cooperation and strategic interaction among private funders and between private funders and their bilateral and multilateral funding colleagues;
    • Assist in spurring the development of new initiatives or joint ventures in the HIV/AIDS field;
    • More and better giving for HIV/AIDS.
